Terms & Conditions

Last updated: 05/09/2026

1. Purpose

Rent & Go Malta (the "Platform") is an online service connecting users ("Customers") with professional hosts ("Partners") for short-term rentals of cars, vans, scooters and motorcycles in the Republic of Malta.

2. Acceptance

By using the Platform, the user declares to have read, understood and fully accepted these Terms & Conditions, the Privacy Policy and the Cookie Policy.

3. User requirements

  • Minimum age 18 (or higher based on the licence category required).
  • Valid driving licence recognised in Malta.
  • Valid ID uploaded during verification (KYC).
  • Valid credit card in the driver's name for the security deposit.

4. Role of the Platform

Rent & Go Malta acts as a technology intermediary. The rental contract is concluded directly between the Customer and the Partner. The Platform retains a service commission on the rental value.

5. Booking and payment

At booking, the rental amount is charged via the payment provider. The security deposit is pre-authorised or charged at vehicle pickup and refunded within 30 days from return, minus any justified retentions.

6. Deposit and retentions

The Partner may request a partial or total retention of the deposit for damage, missing fuel, fines, extraordinary cleaning or contractual breaches. Each retention request is supervised by the Platform Administrator.

7. Cancellations

  • Unpaid bookings: free cancellation.
  • Confirmed bookings: cancellation requires Partner approval.
  • "Non-refundable" rates: no refund on cancellation.

8. Insurance

Every vehicle is covered by mandatory third-party insurance under Maltese law. A Basic cover with a standard excess is always included; the Customer may add the optional excess reduction at booking. Without it, the Customer is liable for damage up to the standard excess. The rental partner must keep valid insurance cover for the rental. The Customer is offered a damage liability reduction, which lowers the standard excess to the remaining excess shown on the vehicle page: it is not a full cover. Rent & Go is an intermediary, not an insurer. The contract signed at pick-up cannot reduce the cover shown at booking.

9. Customer responsibility

The Customer is liable for any fine, penalty, damage or theft occurring during the rental period. The vehicle must be returned in the same condition it was received.

10. Jurisdiction and applicable law

These Terms are governed by Maltese law. Any dispute is subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Malta, subject to EU consumer law.

12. Truthfulness of declarations and documents

The user declares that all information, personal data, identity documents and driving licences uploaded or communicated through the Platform are truthful, up-to-date and valid. Rent & Go Malta and the Partner rental companies are not responsible for false declarations, forged, expired or otherwise invalid documents provided by the user. Any penalties, fines, damages or consequences arising from such false or invalid declarations or documents are solely the responsibility of the user who provided them.
